Thank you so much to everyone who supported our Kickstarter campaign. We are awestruck, dumbstruck and heartstruck by everyone who came along side to make sure that Tom’s story is told to the world. When we began none of us had ever attempted to raise funds through Kickstarter and it was a daunting task. After all if we were unsuccessful we might very well discourage ourselves and those who wanted to support us. So we set a conservative goal of $20,000 hoping to eek out just enough to make the Afghanistan trip possible. But in the end we raised a grand total of $34,593 – nearly 172% of our goal! So where do we go from here and what are we going to do with these extra funds? First off, the team will be able to remain in Afghanistan for an additional week – upping the opportunities to develop the narrative and collect the proper amount of footage. We are also including some additional travel plans in the budget. Furthermore, it is our hope to create some reenactments and collect additional interviews in the U.S.
We would like to raise a grand total of $75,000 for the film and so are nearly halfway there now. If you know of someone who might like to become a corporate underwriter on the project please get in touch with us. Corporate underwriting are the “commercials” that PBS includes on the beginning and end of the production. When we distribute the project your company or organization will have the distinction of being associated with the film in a highly visible way.
That’s it for now. Check back for updates in the coming weeks and tidbits of behind the scenes video and photos.
